The  Anxiety Clinic

Atlanta DBT utilizes 2 proven methods of reducing anxiety to normal & effective levels.

We offer an anxiety treatment package which includes:

  1. biofeedback and mindfulness training

  2. RO-DBT skills therapy

Anxiety is the result of fear. When we are afraid, our body responds by producing physiological symptoms such as heart palpitations, sweating, trembling or shaking, shortness of breath, dizziness, and chest pain or discomfort. These symptoms tend to produce a “fight or flight response” which causes us to take action so that we can be “safe.” Typically the instinct is to go into a “flight” response, rather than stay and “fight” what scares  us. We end up with people whose lives have become significantly limited due to avoidance of the situations that are producing the anxiety.

You are not alone. More than 23 million Americans suffer from anxiety and mood related disorders and those numbers are on the rise. Many anxiety disorders to not respond to typical talk therapy. Making progress often requires specialized, structured treatments that have been specifically developed for anxiety disorders.

Our clinic utilizes two research proven methods.

  1. RO-DBT is specialized designed to treat anxiety. Learn specialized skill sets to let go of rigidity, and be open to receptivity and social-connectedness.

  2. Biofeedback: If meditation is difficult or not for you, learn to increase heart-rate variability** through captivating games and scenic journeys. Biofeedback therapy is a technique that trains people to improve their health by controlling certain bodily processes that normally happen involuntarily, such as heart rate, blood pressure, muscle tension, and skin temperature.

    • Learn the principles of biofeedback with the research backed programs utilized at Atlanta DBT and learn to:

      • control your heart rate

      • master insomnia and your fear of insomnia

      • master your anxiety

    • some of the research proven benefits of biofeedback are:

      • reducing headaches and migraines

      • lessen chronic and short term pain

      • reducing anxiety

      • reduce hyperarousal (a symptom of PTSD/trauma, and insomnia)

**Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is an accurate, non-invasive measure of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) – which responds to everything: how you exercise, recover, eat, sleep and perceive stress.  Unlike basic heart rate (HR) that counts the number of heartbeats per minute, HRV looks much closer at the exact changes in time between successive heartbeats. The higher the HRV, the more resilient you are to stress and anxiety. Biofeedback increases HRV.
